Masqaţ, Oman – October 2024 – Zahir Al Mahruqi has been appointed as Head of People & Culture at OQ Polymer Marketing, overseeing human resources strategies across multiple regions including Oman, China, Singapore, India, Turkey, and Dubai. In this role, Zahir will drive talent acquisition, employee engagement, and HR transformation to support the company’s global operations.
Zahir brings over 15 years of experience at OQ, having recently served as the Manager of People & Culture for OQ Polymer Marketing for nearly two years. In this role, he led HR initiatives, streamlined talent strategies, and supported the business’s growth by sourcing and retaining top talent locally and globally.
Before that, Zahir was the Talent Acquisition Manager at OQ, focusing on recruiting talent to bolster OQ’s downstream and upstream business segments. His efforts were pivotal in ensuring a seamless onboarding experience and fostering a positive work culture.
Earlier, Zahir held the role of Team Leader of Talent Acquisition, where he played a critical role in sourcing talent for major projects, such as the Liwa Plastics Industries Complex and the Sohar Refinery Improvement Project. He provided HR advisory services to ensure effective staffing solutions for multi-billion-dollar projects.
Zahir’s journey at Orpic began as the Sr. Specialist Disbursements – Compensation & Benefits, where he managed payroll and benefits for several years before moving to various leadership roles in recruitment. He also served as an Accountant at the Ministry of Manpower earlier in his career, handling financial operations for over five years.
