Arlington, Virginia, United States, December 2024 – David Sylvester has joined Boeing as the Vice President of Learning & Development. In his new role, David will spearhead initiatives to enhance workforce development, foster leadership capabilities, and align training programs with Boeing’s mission to innovate for a better future.
David shared his enthusiasm about the new opportunity, describing it as his “dream job,” and expressed gratitude to Sarah Lucas Ruhland, Tommy Preston, Jr., and Uma Amuluru for their support and confidence in his journey to this pivotal role.
David brings over three decades of leadership experience in talent development and organizational growth. Before joining Boeing, he served as Director, AWS Talent Development at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he designed and implemented global talent development programs, executive onboarding initiatives, and employee success frameworks. His tenure at AWS spanned over six years, during which he held several leadership roles, including overseeing executive recruiting and onboarding programs.

Prior to AWS, David led the Global Learning & Development team at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he managed the design and delivery of enterprise competency models, leadership development programs, and talent management strategies. His work advanced the organization’s learning culture and supported large-scale organizational growth.
David also held the position of Operations Director at Bechtel University, where he managed global learning operations and curriculum development for key functional areas, including leadership and ethics.
A retired Marine, David served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years in progressively senior leadership roles, including as Head of Senior Leader Management Branch, where he oversaw leadership assessment and development for the Marine Corps’ top executives. His military experience laid a strong foundation for his focus on workforce excellence and strategic talent management.
