SNCF Voyageurs Transilien is proud to announce the elevation of Stéphane Boulanger as the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), effective March 2024. Boulanger brings extensive experience and a proven track record of strategic leadership within the transport and regulatory sectors to his new role at SNCF Voyageurs, the passenger transport division of the SNCF Group.

In his new position, Boulanger will be at the forefront of developing and implementing strategies for transformation and contract management, directly contributing to the enhancement of the passenger experience across the Transilien network. His responsibilities will encompass guiding SNCF Voyageurs Transilien through its ongoing transformation, ensuring the effective management of contracts, and steering the company towards achieving its strategic objectives.

Prior to his elevation, Boulanger served as the Director in charge of the Paris suburban (Île-de-France) trains contract with Île-de-France Mobilités at SNCF Voyageurs, where he played a pivotal role in managing one of the most critical contracts for the region’s public transport. His expertise in contract management and strategic planning has been instrumental in enhancing the operational efficiency and service quality of the Île-de-France train services.

Boulanger’s journey in the transportation sector includes significant roles at the French Railway Regulatory Body (ARAF – Autorité de Régulation des Activités Ferroviaires), where he was the Deputy Director of Network Access, and at McKinsey & Company, where he focused on strategic consultancy. His tenure at Stora Enso as Director of Finance & Controlling further equipped him with a strong financial and operational insight, underscoring his multifaceted expertise.

His strategic acumen and deep understanding of the transportation industry’s dynamics make him the ideal candidate to drive SNCF Voyageurs Transilien’s strategy, transformation, and contract management forward. Boulanger’s leadership is expected to significantly contribute to SNCF Voyageurs’ mission to deliver seamless, sustainable passenger transport and create the mobility solutions of tomorrow.

Under SNCF Group’s new structure, which includes SNCF Réseau, SNCF Gares & Connexions, Rail Logistics Europe, SNCF Voyageurs, Geodis, and Keolis, Boulanger’s role as CSO will be pivotal in navigating the complexities of modern transportation challenges and opportunities. His vision for strategic development and transformation will play a crucial role in enhancing SNCF Voyageurs Transilien’s offerings and ensuring a sustainable, efficient, and passenger-focused future.
