Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, May 2025 – Thirukkumaran Nagarajan has been appointed as Vice President, Human Resources at IBM Asia Pacific, marking a significant milestone in his nearly two-decade journey with IBM. In this new leadership role, Thirukkumaran will partner with senior executives across the APAC region to shape talent strategies that support innovation, transformation, and sustainable growth across diverse IBM business units.
Prior to this elevation, Thirukkumaran was Vice President and HR Head for IBM India/South Asia for over three years, where he led HR transformation and engagement initiatives across one of IBM’s most dynamic markets. His leadership was instrumental in aligning the region’s people strategy with the company’s business evolution and digital-first direction.
Earlier, he served as Vice President, HR for Global Delivery at IBM Consulting, and HR Director for Global Business Services in India. Before returning to India, Thirukkumaran led HR for IBM’s Middle East and Africa GBS business, based out of Dubai, driving talent strategies and local workforce development across the region. His career has spanned continents and critical portfolios in talent acquisition, mobility, performance management, and business HR strategy.
He also held global mobility leadership roles at IBM in Armonk, New York, including Sr. Manager of Global Mobility Partners and Mobility Transformation Leader, playing a crucial role in cross-border talent deployment and compliance strategies across 60+ countries. He began his IBM journey in 2005 as Recruitment Manager and scaled through various HR leadership roles.
Before joining IBM, Thirukkumaran gained people leadership experience at AOL as Manager of Technical Support Operations, and earlier, managed diverse teams and business operations at ITC Hotels Limited across India.
