San Antonio, Texas, United States, September 2025 — Gajen Kandiah has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Rackspace Technology, where he will lead the company’s overall vision, growth strategy, and transformation in the rapidly evolving cloud and AI solutions space. In this role, he will be responsible for steering Rackspace’s position as a leading global partner in end-to-end hybrid cloud and AI-driven innovation.
Kandiah brings over three decades of leadership experience across digital transformation, cloud infrastructure, and global technology services. Before joining Rackspace, he was with Hitachi, where he served in multiple senior roles, including President and Chief Operating Officer of Hitachi Digital, Executive Chairman of Hitachi Digital Services, and CEO of Hitachi Vantara. During this period, he also chaired Hitachi Cyber and served as a Board Member at Hitachi Rail and GlobalLogic, driving innovation across AI, data, cloud, and digital engineering businesses.
Earlier in his career, Kandiah spent nearly 16 years at Cognizant, where he rose to become President of Digital Business and Digital Engineering. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in scaling Cognizant’s digital services portfolio globally, delivering transformative solutions in AI, data analytics, cloud, and software engineering. He also held senior executive roles as Executive Vice President & Global Managing Director and Senior Vice President & General Manager, shaping the company’s expansion in key markets and industries.
Kandiah began his career with leadership positions at Cambridge Technology Partners and later co-founded NerveWire Inc., an internet services business that was acquired by Wipro. His entrepreneurial journey and corporate leadership have given him a unique perspective on driving large-scale transformation while fostering innovation and customer-centricity.
