San Francisco, California, United States, September 2025 — Robert Mooney has taken on the role of Global Head of Talent Acquisition at Opendoor, where he will be responsible for driving scalable recruiting strategies to attract and retain top talent as the company continues to transform the real estate industry through digital innovation.
Prior to joining Opendoor, Robert led Synapse Executive Search Partners, specializing in retained executive and contingent engineering searches for advanced AI and technology companies. His work included placing transformative leaders, world-class engineers, and technical visionaries in roles critical to scaling high-growth companies.
Before that, he served as Sr. Director of Talent Acquisition at ID.me, where he drove recruiting strategies for secure identity proofing and authentication solutions. He also held the role of Sr. Director of Talent Acquisition at 8×8, supporting engineering, executive, and corporate functions for the global communications company.
Earlier in his career, Robert held senior staffing roles with leading technology companies such as PayPal, Visa, GetInsured, WalmartLabs, Electronic Arts, and eBay. He also served as Head of Talent Acquisition at Elan Pharmaceuticals, and gained early talent acquisition experience at Genentech, Applied BioSystems, and Level 3 Communications, before co-founding and leading an agency recruiting firm serving Fortune 500 companies.
