Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, September 2025 – Carly Giesbrecht has been appointed as Senior Director, People Strategy at Valard Construction. In this role, she will lead the design and execution of people strategies that strengthen leadership, workforce capability, and talent readiness to support Valard’s operational excellence and long-term growth. Her focus will include developing scalable training infrastructure, embedding competency-based practices, enhancing workforce planning, and driving employee engagement and retention strategies across the organization.
Before stepping into this role, Carly served as Senior Director, HR Shared Services – Quanta Canada (Electric Power) for over a year, where she played a pivotal role in optimizing HR operations, compliance, and workforce development across Quanta’s electric power companies in Canada.
Earlier, Carly spent more than eight years at Valard Construction LP, where she advanced through several senior HR roles. As Director of Human Resources, she led succession planning, employee development, and compensation strategies. Previously, as Senior Manager, Operational Field Human Resources, she was integral in shaping leadership development and workforce alignment strategies, collaborating closely with Valard’s senior executives. She also served as Manager, Training & Safety Programs and Supervisor, Safety Training and Orientation, where she built training and safety frameworks supporting operations across North America.
Carly’s career began with a strong foundation in training and development. At CannAmm Occupational Testing Services, she designed and delivered learning programs, implemented a learning management system, and created orientation initiatives. Earlier roles at the University of Alberta, Servus Credit Union, and EPCOR further honed her expertise in facilitation, leadership development, and workplace learning strategies.
