Pune, Maharashtra, India, October 2025 – Knorr-Bremse India Private Ltd. (Rail Vehicle Systems Division) has announced the appointment of Shantanu Roy as its Managing Director. The announcement was made by Frank Uder, Member of the Board, Knorr-Bremse Asia Pacific (Holding) Ltd., who expressed confidence that under Roy’s leadership, alongside Leonid Ovchinnikov, Managing Director, COO, and Board Member, Knorr-Bremse India, the organization will continue its transformation journey toward the highest levels of business responsibility and operational excellence across all functions.
With over two decades of leadership experience across global organizations, Shantanu Roy brings a rich background in industrial, automotive, and manufacturing sectors. His appointment marks a significant step in Knorr-Bremse’s commitment to strengthening its presence in India’s rail vehicle systems market and driving future-ready business transformation.
Before joining Knorr-Bremse India, Shantanu Roy served as General Manager/Managing Director at tesa, where he led business operations and strategic growth for the company in India, driving market expansion and organizational transformation.
Prior to this, he was President at ITW Chemin India, part of Illinois Tool Works, where he had full P&L responsibility for the specialty chemicals division, overseeing manufacturing and commercial operations that served more than 250 customers across India.
Earlier, during his tenure at Continental, spanning over five years, he led the Truck Tire Business as Business Head and National Sales Head, managing P&L, sales, and marketing for a vast network of channel partners, OEMs, and government clients. His strategic leadership contributed to significant revenue and network growth in India and Nepal.
He also held several senior leadership roles at Cummins Inc., including Sr. General Manager – India Parts Business, General Manager – Retail Business, and Manager – Global Telecom Power, where he managed sales and marketing for engine components, diesel generators, and global telecom power solutions.
Earlier in his career, he worked with Schneider Electric in corporate strategy and development in France, and with Toshiba, Siemens, and Vedanta Resources (BALCO) in roles spanning operations, project management, and business development across EMEA.
An alumnus of HEC Paris, where he earned his MBA in Strategy and Marketing, and National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering, Shantanu brings a blend of strategic, technical, and leadership expertise to his new role.
