Hannah Gowans Appointed as Head of People & Culture at Queensland Parliament

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, October 2025 – Queensland Parliament has announced the appointment of Hannah Gowans as its new Head of People & Culture. In this leadership role, Hannah will be responsible for shaping and executing the Parliament’s people strategy, fostering a culture of engagement, inclusion, and capability development within one of Australia’s most historic legislative institutions.

Before joining Queensland Parliament, Hannah Gowans served as Manager – Culture, Capability & Wellbeing at Metro North Health, where she led initiatives to enhance workplace wellbeing, leadership capability, and organizational culture across Queensland’s largest health service. Her work focused on creating psychologically safe, inclusive environments that promote both staff performance and well-being.

Prior to that, she worked with the Bank of Queensland as Capability Partner – Leadership & Talent, where she played a pivotal role in designing and implementing leadership programs and talent development frameworks aligned with organizational goals and values.

Earlier, Hannah was Talent Program Manager at Americold Logistics, overseeing enterprise-wide initiatives to attract, develop, and retain top talent across multiple regions. She also served as Learning Area Manager at Amazon, where she was instrumental in leading large-scale training and learning programs that supported workforce readiness in fast-paced operational environments.

Before moving to Australia, Hannah held key learning and development roles in the United Kingdom, including Talent & Development Lead at Next, Training Development Manager at Tesco Hospitality, and Senior Learning & Development Manager at Sodexo Justice Services. She began her career in training coordination and management roles at organizations such as The REIQ, Services Trades Industry Fund, and Torgas Group Training, building a strong foundation in vocational education and people development.

Located in Brisbane’s central business district, surrounded by the City Botanic Gardens and Queensland University of Technology’s Gardens Point campus, it plays a central role in shaping the legislative and governance landscape of the state.

Administered by the Queensland Parliamentary Service, the institution emphasizes transparency, education, and civic engagement. It conducts the work of the Legislative Assembly, manages committee operations, and offers a variety of educational programs and public events. The Parliament’s people and culture efforts reflect its commitment to maintaining an inclusive, respectful, and purpose-driven workplace that supports its mission of serving the people of Queensland with integrity and excellence.
