Northampton, England, United Kingdom, October 2025 – GXO Logistics, Inc., a global leader in cutting-edge logistics and supply chain solutions, has announced the appointment of Paul Durkin as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). In his new role, Paul will be responsible for driving GXO’s global operations, advancing digital transformation, and strengthening customer-centric logistics capabilities across key markets.
Paul Durkin brings over three decades of experience in logistics, digital transformation, and customer innovation across global markets. He is widely recognized for his visionary leadership in shaping modern supply chain strategies and building scalable, technology-driven operations.
Before joining GXO Logistics, Paul served for 18 years at Wincanton, one of the UK’s largest supply chain companies. Most recently, he was Chief Customer & Innovation Officer, leading business transformation through digital and automation initiatives that enhanced Wincanton’s operational agility and customer experience. He also served as Managing Director, Digital and eFulfilment, spearheading Wincanton’s entry into digital commerce and next-generation fulfilment services, driving growth through innovation and strategic partnerships.
Earlier, Paul held the role of Director of Home and DIY at Wincanton, where he defined and executed the strategic plan for a £200 million+ retail portfolio, delivering multi-channel solutions for major clients such as B&Q, Screwfix, and M&S. His work in this period established new benchmarks in customer satisfaction, logistics integration, and omnichannel delivery models.
Before his long tenure at Wincanton, Paul was Business Director at DHL Exel, where he managed strategic growth and P&L performance for retail accounts including Debenhams, Carpetright, Carphone Warehouse, and BAA. His leadership contributed to operational excellence and long-term customer retention in a highly competitive retail logistics environment.
Paul began his career at Tibbett & Britten, where he rose from a graduate trainee to Account Director over 13 years, including four years as Regional Manager in Hong Kong and China. His early exposure to international logistics operations honed his expertise in cross-border supply chains, regional market dynamics, and multi-cultural leadership—skills that have since defined his global leadership approach.
Throughout his career, Paul has been at the forefront of innovation-led transformation, combining deep operational understanding with a passion for customer-centric solutions and digital efficiency. His leadership at GXO is expected to further advance the company’s global logistics strategy and strengthen its position as an industry leader in smart, sustainable supply chain management.
