Dubai, United Arab Emirates, December 2025 – Varun Sridhar has joined Aspora as Chief Executive Officer – Wealth & Lending, bringing over two decades of cross-functional leadership experience in financial services, retail banking, and fintech. In his new role, Varun will lead Aspora’s global wealth management and lending strategy, with a specific focus on scaling cross-border banking solutions for the global Indian diaspora.
As Aspora sharpens its focus on serving the financial needs of global citizens across the US, UK, UAE, and EU, Varun’s appointment signals a bold step toward becoming a comprehensive and tech-driven global banking platform.
“Varun’s experience in scaling fintech platforms and his deep understanding of cross-border financial needs make him an invaluable addition to our leadership team. As we continue expanding beyond the UK, UAE, and US markets, his expertise will be instrumental in delivering the banking infrastructure our community deserves,” – Parth Garg, Founder, Aspora
Before joining Aspora, Varun most recently served as CEO of Paytm Services, where he played a key role in launching and growing India’s first “Daily Mutual Fund SIP” product and enabled new lending experiences like Loans Against Mutual Funds. Under his leadership, Paytm scaled its financial services with user-first innovation and strategic partnerships.
Previously, he was the CEO of Paytm Money, where he led the platform from zero to Top 10 brokerage status in India, managing over $4 billion AUM and launching key products like retail bond trading, PMS marketplace, open APIs for traders, and scaled SIPs and derivatives.
He also served as CEO of FinShell India, an OPPO Group company, where he launched realme PaySa, India’s first full-stack financial platform by a smartphone OEM, blending mobility with finance and offering credit, insurance, and UPI payments.
Varun’s earlier stint at BNP Paribas included a global leadership role where he led retail transformation across banks in Poland, Turkey, and Ukraine, and drove expansion and acquisition strategies across Europe and Asia, including the acquisition of Sharekhan in India.
His financial services foundation was further shaped through strategic roles at Deutsche Bank, where he helped launch the retail banking business in India, and Citibank, where he led innovative consumer lending channels in South India.
