Corpus Christi, Texas, United States, January 2026 — Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi has appointed Cassondra Casanova as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), marking a significant milestone in a distinguished career built entirely within the Island University system. In her new role, Casanova will lead the university’s people strategy, workforce planning, talent development, compensation, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness initiatives in support of academic excellence and institutional growth.
Her appointment follows a progressive leadership journey across multiple HR leadership roles within the university, reflecting both deep institutional knowledge and trusted leadership.
Casanova most recently served as Acting Chief Human Resources Officer, where she provided strategic leadership to HR operations and organizational development priorities during a period of institutional transition. Prior to this, she held the role of Associate HR Director, overseeing key HR portfolios including employment, compensation, and compliance.
Earlier, she served as Interim Assistant HR Director, following her tenure as HR Compensation Analyst and Employment Manager, where she strengthened classification structures, compensation strategy and recruitment operations. She previously held the role of HR Employment Manager, leading recruitment and onboarding operations.
Her earlier career includes long-standing service as HR Specialist II, Graduate Studies Coordinator, and Student Assistant in the Human Resources Department, marking over eighteen years of continuous service and advancement at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi.
Casanova holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Human Resources Management, both from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi.
