Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 2026 — Emirates Biotech has appointed David Miller as Chief Operating Officer (COO), strengthening its operational and technical leadership as the company advances its ambitions in PLA biopolymer manufacturing and sustainable materials.
David brings 30 years of engineering and manufacturing experience, including approximately 18 years in biopolymer production. In his new role, he will lead Emirates Biotech’s operations with a focus on building a strong culture of safety, operational excellence, engineering discipline, and technical problem-solving as the company develops its biopolymer capabilities.
Prior to joining Emirates Biotech, David served as Vice President Operations at ABP Engineering, LLC, where he oversaw day-to-day operations, strategic planning, business development, customer satisfaction, talent development, and initiatives aimed at growing the business. Before that, he was Director – Engineering, Maintenance and Reliability at NatureWorks, bringing extensive leadership experience in engineering and plant operations.
David spent more than 16 years with NatureWorks, progressing through roles including Reliability Engineer, Polymer Plant Engineer, Production Engineer, Engineering Manager, and Director-level leadership. His work included managing production and process improvements for large-scale Ingeo polylactic acid (PLA) and Lactide manufacturing facilities, with responsibilities spanning plant safety, production performance, process optimization, capital projects, maintenance, reliability, process safety, shutdowns, and engineering management.
Earlier in his career, David spent nearly nine years with Union Pacific Railroad as Manager – Mechanical Engineering, where he developed and implemented maintenance strategies for a fleet of thousands of locomotives and worked on engineering modifications focused on improving reliability and safety. His combination of large-scale manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, reliability, and biopolymer expertise brings significant operational experience to Emirates Biotech as it builds its manufacturing platform.
