Bentonville, Arkansas, United States, January 2026 — Walmart has announced that David M. Chojnowski has stepped into the role of Senior Vice President, Global Treasurer and Tax. In this expanded executive capacity, he will oversee Walmart’s global treasury operations, capital structure, liquidity management, tax strategy, and financial risk governance for the world’s largest retailer.
David M. Chojnowski brings over three decades of global finance and accounting leadership experience across retail, QSR, and automotive sectors. He most recently served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer at Walmart, where he led global accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance functions for nearly a decade.
Earlier at Walmart, he held multiple senior leadership roles including Vice President and Controller – U.S., Vice President – Finance Transformation, and Vice President and Controller – International, playing a central role in modernizing finance systems, strengthening governance, and supporting global business expansion.
Prior to Walmart, David served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer at Burger King Corporation, where he oversaw global accounting and financial operations during a period of international growth and transformation.
His early career was shaped by 13 years at General Motors, where he held progressive leadership roles including Regional Controller, Product Line Chief Financial Officer, and senior finance management positions spanning FP&A, SEC reporting, consolidations, treasury, and internal controls.
He began his professional journey at Deloitte as a Senior Audit Professional, building his foundation in audit, compliance, and corporate finance.
David holds an MBA in Finance with Distinction from the University of Michigan – Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
