LONDON – Lloyds, the premier global marketplace for insurance and reinsurance, has announced a significant leadership update. Dawn Miller is set to become the Chief Commercial Officer of Lloyd’s and CEO of Lloyd’s Americas, effective September 1, 2024. Based in New York, Miller’s expanded role will see her continuing her leadership of the Commercial directorate while also joining Lloyd’s Executive Committee.
As CEO of Lloyd’s Americas, Miller will focus on nurturing key relationships and spearheading strategic and sustainable growth throughout the region, which includes a greater alignment with Bermuda. This transition comes as Hank Watkins, the outgoing Regional Director & President of Lloyd’s Americas after 15 years of service, departs to explore new opportunities at the end of this year.
Concurrently, Marc Lipman has been named President of Lloyd’s Americas, stationed in Canada, starting September 1. Lipman, who has been with Lloyd’s since June 2020 as the Attorney in Fact and President of Lloyd’s Canada, has notably fortified Lloyd’s Canadian operations with enhanced governance and robust risk management frameworks, including the implementation of IFRS 17.
“The Americas represents over 60% of our market’s total premium, and as we look to increase our presence, it is vital that we have the right people on the ground to deliver our ambitions. The appointment of Dawn and Marc to their new roles will strengthen our position to offer current and new stakeholders the best underwriting and investment platform in the world. I would like to thank Hank for his invaluable work over the last 15 years at Lloyd’s.”
John Neal, CEO of Lloyd’s
“As we look at how our commercial strategy can support the market’s profitable growth over the next two years, these changes to the way we’re structured in the Americas allow us to broaden the scope of our offering. We will be able to provide greater support to our large network of stakeholders and market participants based on the region, and drive forward our global distribution strategy.”
