Plano, Texas, United States, February 2026 – John Waldron has joined Toyota Motor North America as Group Manager – Executive Compensation and Compensation Strategy, where he will lead executive pay frameworks and shape strategic compensation architecture aligned with Toyota’s long-term business priorities.
In this role, John will be responsible for driving executive compensation design, governance, and strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise performance, leadership accountability, and shareholder value creation. His appointment strengthens Toyota’s Total Rewards leadership as the organization advances its vision of mobility innovation and people-first culture.
John joins Toyota following an impressive nearly three-decade career at PepsiCo, where he most recently served as Director, Total Rewards – Global Compensation. In that role, he led the Global Incentive Compensation Center of Excellence, shaping compensation strategy for more than 210,000 frontline employees across six divisions. He developed global compensation frameworks across 40 business units, partnered with country leadership to tailor market-specific programs, and led a global council of Total Rewards professionals to foster innovation and collaboration.
Previously, as Total Rewards Senior Manager, John held responsibility for rewards programs covering 29,000 employees, including compensation, benefits, and sales incentives. He led a landmark sales compensation transformation through implementation of the Varicent Sales Performance Management platform, automating complex calculations for 20,000 representatives and integrating multiple data streams to enhance transparency and efficiency. He also championed pay equity initiatives and optimized wage processes to maximize return on compensation investments.
Earlier in his PepsiCo career, John served in senior sales compensation and frontline sales leadership roles for nearly two decades, driving operational excellence, strengthening selling culture, and aligning compensation programs with business strategy.
He holds an MBA in Business Analytics and Finance from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, bringing a strong analytical foundation to executive compensation strategy and governance.
His move to Toyota marks a strategic addition to the organization’s leadership bench as it continues to innovate in mobility while maintaining a strong people-first philosophy.
