Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, June 2026 — Prakash Sappa has assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer at JSW JFE Steel Ltd, marking another significant milestone in a distinguished career spanning more than three decades in the steel industry.
Sappa brings extensive expertise in steel manufacturing, operations management, business leadership, plant performance, and industrial growth. His elevation comes after a long and successful association with the JSW Group, where he has played a pivotal role in strengthening operational excellence and driving business performance.
Prior to taking on this new responsibility, Sappa served as Senior Vice President at JSW Steel, a position he held since 2022. Over his more than 16-year tenure with the company, he progressed through several leadership positions including Vice President, Associate Vice President, General Manager, and Deputy General Manager. Throughout this journey, he contributed significantly to operational improvements, strategic initiatives, and the growth of JSW Steel’s manufacturing capabilities.
Before joining JSW Steel, Sappa worked with Ispat Industries Ltd as Deputy General Manager, where he was involved in key operational and production functions within the steel manufacturing business.
Earlier in his career, he spent more than a decade with Essar Steel Ltd, serving as Deputy Manager and gaining extensive experience in steel operations, manufacturing processes, plant management, and industrial systems.
With over 30 years of experience across leading steel organizations, Sappa has built a strong reputation for operational leadership, business transformation, and execution excellence. His deep understanding of the steel sector and long-standing industry experience are expected to further strengthen JSW JFE Steel’s operational capabilities and growth ambitions.
