Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, June 2026 — Satya Shankar Mahapatra has been elevated from Executive Director to Partner – Strategy, Risk and Transactions at Deloitte.
Mahapatra is a seasoned financial services, risk, and strategy leader with more than two decades of experience across consulting, investment banking, risk management, regulatory transformation, analytics, and capital markets. His elevation reflects a distinguished career built on delivering strategic advisory services and leading complex risk transformation initiatives for global financial institutions.
Prior to becoming Partner, Mahapatra served as Executive Director – Strategy, Risk and Transactions at Deloitte, where he advised clients on market risk, credit risk, Basel IV implementation, stress testing, climate risk, and regulatory transformation. Earlier, he held the position of Director – Risk Advisory, supporting organizations in navigating evolving risk and regulatory environments while strengthening enterprise resilience and governance frameworks.
Before joining Deloitte, Mahapatra spent nearly eight years with Barclays Investment Bank as Senior Vice President – Risk & Analytics. During this period, he led critical initiatives across Market Risk, Credit Risk, FRTB implementation, stress testing, counterparty credit risk, Basel III programs, model development, exposure methodologies, and regulatory compliance. He also played a key role in driving risk analytics and transformation programs across global markets.
Earlier, he worked with J.P. Morgan as Vice President – Operations, Business Initiatives Group, where he led strategic transformation initiatives focused on OTC derivatives, financial reforms, regulatory programs, and operational re-engineering across equity, rates, and credit products.
His professional journey also includes leadership roles at Credit Suisse, where he served as Senior AVP – Global Arbitrage Trading, managing trading analytics, market risk, quantitative analysis, algorithmic trading platform development, compliance, and valuation functions across APAC markets.
Prior to that, Mahapatra spent over four years with Infosys, contributing to treasury consulting, core banking solutions, investment banking transformation, business process restructuring, and enterprise solution delivery for global financial institutions across the United States, Europe, and Asia. He began his corporate career with Polaris Financial Technology Limited, working in investment banking consulting, corporate planning, business intelligence, and financial technology solutions.
With deep expertise across strategy, risk, transactions, market risk, credit risk, regulatory frameworks, climate risk, and financial services transformation, Mahapatra is widely recognized for helping organizations navigate complex business and regulatory challenges while driving sustainable growth.
