Gurugram, Haryana, India, June 2026 — Puneet Datta has taken on the additional responsibility of Chief Communications Officer (CCO) at Canon India, while continuing in his role as Senior Director with full P&L ownership. The expanded mandate reflects Canon India’s confidence in his leadership and his significant contributions to the company’s growth, brand positioning, and market leadership over the past two decades.
In announcing the development, Puneet emphasized the close relationship between business growth and corporate communications, noting that communications and commerce are ultimately united by a common purpose: building trust, delivering value, and shaping the story a company tells its customers, partners, and stakeholders.
Puneet Datta has spent more than twenty-one years with Canon India, building one of the most distinguished leadership journeys within the organization. Prior to assuming the role of Chief Communications Officer, he served as Senior Director for seven years, leading key business functions while carrying full profit-and-loss responsibility. During this period, he played a pivotal role in strengthening Canon India’s market position, expanding business operations, and driving sustainable growth across multiple product and customer segments.
Earlier, Puneet served as Director – Sales & Marketing, where he led strategic sales and marketing initiatives that helped accelerate Canon’s presence in India. Before that, he held the positions of Assistant Director – Sales & Marketing, Assistant Director – Marketing, and Senior Manager – Marketing, contributing significantly to brand building, channel development, customer engagement, and market expansion initiatives.
His journey within Canon India began as Manager – Channel Marketing & Enterprise Solution Partners, where he was responsible for strengthening partner ecosystems, developing enterprise relationships, and expanding market reach. Over the years, he successfully progressed through multiple leadership roles, gaining deep expertise across sales, marketing, channel management, business strategy, brand management, communications, and commercial leadership.
Before joining Canon India, Puneet worked with Emerson Network Power, where he held leadership roles as Regional Manager – North and Sales Manager – West, managing business development and regional growth initiatives. Earlier in his career, he served with Ricoh India as Dealer Sales Manager and Dealer Support Engineer, developing strong foundations in customer engagement, channel management, and technology-led sales.
Across nearly three decades of professional experience, Puneet has built a reputation as a business leader who combines commercial acumen with strategic brand stewardship, enabling organizations to strengthen both market performance and stakeholder trust.
Puneet Datta completed advanced studies in Marketing from the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM Kozhikode), further strengthening his expertise in business strategy, customer engagement, and market leadership.
