Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, June 2025 — Sandhya Devanathan has been elevated to the position of Vice President & Head – India and South East Asia at Meta, expanding her leadership responsibilities across one of the company’s most dynamic and strategically important regions.
A highly accomplished business leader with extensive experience spanning technology, digital platforms, financial services, consumer banking, payments, e-commerce, and digital transformation, Devanathan has played a pivotal role in driving growth, innovation, and market expansion across global markets. In her expanded role, she will oversee Meta’s operations and growth strategy across India and South East Asia, further strengthening the company’s presence and impact across the region.
Devanathan has been associated with Meta for more than six years. Prior to her elevation, she served as Vice President, India, where she led the company’s business and growth agenda in one of Meta’s largest markets. Earlier, she served as Vice President, Asia-Pacific, Gaming, overseeing one of Meta’s most significant business verticals across the Asia-Pacific region. Her leadership has been instrumental in accelerating growth, fostering innovation, and strengthening partnerships across digital ecosystems.
Before joining Meta, Devanathan held several leadership positions at Facebook, where she became the company’s first Country Managing Director for Singapore and later also assumed responsibility for Vietnam. She previously served as Group Director, Southeast Asia – Ecommerce, Travel and Financial Services, leading strategic client partnerships and contributing to the development of the region’s digital economy.
Earlier in her career, she spent more than six years with Standard Chartered Bank, holding senior leadership positions including Managing Director – Retail Banking and Payment Products, Managing Director & Head – Credit Cards and Unsecured Loans, and Global Head – Cross-Sell and Pricing, Consumer Bank. During this period, she led large-scale banking, payments, digital acquisition, and product innovation initiatives across international markets.
Prior to Standard Chartered, Devanathan spent nearly a decade with Citi, where she held multiple leadership roles across consumer lending, retail banking, portfolio management, customer retention, digital banking, and sales performance management in India, the Philippines, and the United States.
In addition to her executive responsibilities, Devanathan serves on several prominent boards and advisory bodies. She is a Founding Board Member of Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Ltd, a joint venture between Meta and Reliance focused on enterprise AI solutions. She also serves as a Board Observer at Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) and is a Member of the Board of Advisors at Singapore Management University’s College of Integrative Studies. Her previous board and advisory engagements include the National Library Board of Singapore, Pepper Financial Services Group, and the SingPost APAC Ecommerce Advisory Board.
With extensive expertise across digital transformation, technology, financial services, platform growth, consumer businesses, and strategic leadership, Devanathan is exceptionally positioned to lead Meta’s continued expansion and innovation agenda across India and South East Asia.
