New Delhi, India, June 2026 — OpenAI has appointed Prabhjeet Singh as Managing Director – India, marking one of the company’s most significant leadership appointments in the country as it strengthens its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing AI markets. Prabhjeet will join OpenAI in September 2026, where he will lead the company’s India operations, drive strategic growth, deepen partnerships across the ecosystem, and support the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence across enterprises, developers, governments, and institutions.
Prabhjeet Singh joins OpenAI after nearly 11 years at Uber, where he most recently served as President, India & South Asia. In this role, he led one of Uber’s largest and fastest-growing global businesses, overseeing full profit and loss responsibility while driving business expansion, market growth, innovation, and sustainable mobility initiatives across the region. Under his leadership, India became Uber’s third-largest market globally, reflecting the company’s significant growth and operational scale across South Asia.
Prior to becoming President, Prabhjeet held several leadership positions at Uber, including Director, Head of Cities & Growth, Director, Head of North, East, West & Bangladesh, General Manager – Delhi & North India, and General Manager, Head of Strategy. Across these roles, he played an instrumental role in expanding Uber’s market presence, scaling regional operations, strengthening city partnerships, and driving strategic initiatives that accelerated growth across multiple business segments.
Before joining Uber, Prabhjeet spent more than nine years with McKinsey & Company, where he rose to the position of Associate Partner. During his consulting career, he advised more than 30 CEOs and leading organizations across financial services, telecommunications, consumer technology, and digital businesses on business strategy, organizational transformation, sales excellence, digital innovation, and operational performance. He began his professional career as a Senior Analyst at Lehman Brothers in London, working across structured finance and equities, building a strong analytical foundation early in his career.
With more than 20 years of leadership experience, Prabhjeet brings extensive expertise in business strategy, digital transformation, operations, market expansion, technology leadership, organizational growth, and innovation.
