Greater Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, June 2026 — GE HealthCare has appointed Akshar Awalgaonkar as Senior Vice President & Chief Procurement Officer, strengthening its executive leadership team as the company continues to advance its global supply chain and procurement capabilities. The appointment marks a return to the GE family for Akshar, who began his career within General Electric before building an accomplished global leadership career across procurement, sourcing, commercial operations, and supply chain transformation. In his new role, he will lead GE HealthCare’s global procurement organization, driving sourcing excellence, supplier partnerships, operational resilience, and value creation across the company’s worldwide operations.
Akshar Awalgaonkar joins GE HealthCare from Avery Dennison, where he served as Group Vice President & Chief Procurement Officer, leading the Fortune 500 company’s global procurement organization. During his tenure, he was responsible for developing procurement strategies, strengthening supplier partnerships, and driving enterprise-wide value creation across the global materials science and digital identification solutions business.
Prior to Avery Dennison, Akshar served as Senior Vice President & Chief Procurement Officer at GE, leading the global integrated procurement function for the former GE Water business following its transition through SUEZ and Veolia. Earlier, he held senior procurement leadership positions as Assistant Vice President – Global Procurement at AbbVie and Assistant Vice President – Global Procurement at Walgreens Boots Alliance, where he led global indirect procurement organizations supporting complex multinational operations across the pharmaceutical and retail healthcare sectors.
Akshar’s earlier career included nearly eight years with General Electric, where he held a series of progressively senior leadership positions across global strategic sourcing, commercial operations, program management, and profit management. During this period, he managed global sourcing organizations spanning engineered systems, electronics, and strategic commodities while also leading commercial program management for a US$5 billion global portfolio across multiple continents. He began his international leadership journey through Whirlpool Corporation’s Global Supply Chain Leadership Development Program, following his early engineering experience with Bosch in India.
With more than 20 years of global leadership experience, Akshar has built deep expertise across procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain transformation, commercial operations, supplier management, cost optimization, program management, and global business operations.
