Montreal, Quebec, Canada, September 2024 – Martin Tanguay has been appointed as the Vice President of Human Resources at Deschênes Group, where he will oversee the corporate HR functions across the company. With a focus on developing and implementing HR strategies, Martin will play a crucial role in supporting the company’s growth while strengthening its corporate culture.

Before joining Deschênes Group, Martin Tanguay served as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Solmax for nearly seven years, where he led global HR operations. During his tenure, Martin was instrumental in driving HR transformation, employee engagement, and leadership development initiatives.

At BRP, Martin held the positions of Senior Director, Global Business Transformation Readiness and Director, Human Resources – Global Sales and Consumer Experience. In these roles, he supported global transformation efforts and provided strategic HR guidance to the leadership team. His expertise in talent management, succession planning, and employee development was pivotal to the organization.

Prior to BRP, Martin served as the Vice President, People and Communities at Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. for over a year, where he managed HR functions during the company’s transition toward autonomy. He played a key role in preparing the business for potential buyers and developing the HR structure for the mining operations.

Earlier in his career, Martin was the Director of Capability Development at Rio Tinto for over two years, where he led organizational development initiatives, training, and leadership development across the company’s Canadian operations. His focus was on fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Additionally, Martin spent five years at Yellow Pages Group, where he was responsible for developing a new HR structure to support aggressive business growth through acquisitions. He managed a team of 24 HR professionals across multiple provinces and handled negotiations with union stakeholders.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
