Manchester, England, United Kingdom, August 2025 – Oliver Bate has been promoted to Chief People Officer at HF, where he will lead the firm’s people strategy, talent development, and culture initiatives across its expanding legal and claims operations. In this role, Oliver will focus on fostering a high-performance, client-focused culture, strengthening leadership capabilities, and driving people-centric innovation aligned with HF’s forward-thinking approach.
Oliver has been with HF for more than six years, most recently serving as People Director. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in aligning talent strategy with business priorities, enhancing employee engagement, and developing leadership programs to support the firm’s growth. Before that, he served as Head of Learning and Development at HF, where he transformed training strategies to equip colleagues with skills needed in a rapidly changing legal and insurance landscape.

Prior to HF, Oliver was Head of Talent and Development at Hill Dickinson LLP, where he oversaw talent strategy, leadership development, and employee capability building. His work there included implementing initiatives that strengthened organizational effectiveness and career development pathways.
Earlier in his career, Oliver was Head of Learning and Development at DWF, responsible for leading fundamental changes in learning culture across a business of 2,300 employees in 18 offices. He also served as Learning Development Manager at Addleshaw Goddard, where he redesigned the firm’s L&D strategy to align with mission, values, and client needs.
Oliver’s earlier leadership roles include Learning Development Manager at Amplifon, where he built the L&D function post-acquisition, and multiple positions at Boots UK, including Retail Store Manager, Project Manager, and Learning Development Manager, where he was accountable for training 35,000+ colleagues and delivered award-winning retail learning initiatives. His career also includes consultancy work with Communications International Group advising executive leadership on retail business strategies.
