A distinguished pharmaceutical research leader with nearly three decades of experience in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) research and development, process innovation, and scientific leadership, Dr. Tiwari joins APL to spearhead its API research initiatives, accelerate product development, and strengthen the company’s innovation-driven growth strategy. In his new role, he will lead API research and development programs, advance scientific excellence, and drive the expansion of APL’s global product pipeline.
Before joining Aarti Pharmalabs Ltd., Dr. Tiwari served at Synthimed Labs Private Limited, where he most recently held the position of Assistant Vice President – Head CRD (API). Prior to this, he was Head CRD (API) – Senior General Manager, leading the company’s API research and development organization. During his tenure, he was responsible for advancing complex API development programs, building high-performing scientific teams, strengthening research capabilities, and delivering innovative process development solutions that supported commercial manufacturing and business growth.
Earlier, Dr. Tiwari served as Head – CRD (General Manager) at Ind-Swift Laboratories Ltd., where he led chemical research and development initiatives focused on process innovation, scalable API development, and technology advancement. Prior to that, he spent more than five years with Aurobindo Pharma as Principal Scientist-I / General Manager-I, contributing to the development of high-value pharmaceutical products through scientific innovation, process optimization, and regulatory-compliant development strategies. His career also includes senior scientific leadership roles at Piramal Enterprises Limited as Senior Group Leader, Sai Life Sciences Ltd. as Principal Scientist, and Acoris Research Ltd. (A Hikal Group Company) as Group Leader, where he gained extensive expertise in medicinal chemistry, process research, and API development.
Dr. Tiwari previously spent nearly four years with Jubilant Chemsys Limited, progressing from Group Leader to Principal Scientist, where he led multidisciplinary research teams working on complex pharmaceutical discovery and development programs. Earlier in his career, he served as Senior Research Scientist at Chembiotech Laboratories Ltd. and Associate Scientific Manager at Syngene International Limited, building a strong foundation in pharmaceutical research and contract research services. His scientific journey began with advanced academic research as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at RWTH Aachen University, Germany, following nearly six years as a Research Fellow (Ph.D.) at the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune, where he established deep expertise in organic chemistry and pharmaceutical research.
With nearly 30 years of scientific and leadership experience, Dr. Tiwari has earned a distinguished reputation for advancing API research, developing innovative chemical processes, mentoring scientific talent, and delivering commercially successful pharmaceutical technologies.
