Bringing nearly two decades of experience in the banking and financial services sector, Abhijit Sadhu has built a distinguished career in internal audit, enterprise risk management, regulatory compliance, operational risk, governance, KYC/AML reviews, and process improvement. Prior to joining SMFG Grihashakti, he served as Senior Manager – Internal Audit at Spandana Sphoorty Financial Limited, where he led comprehensive risk-based audits, developed Risk Control Matrices (RCMs), managed statutory audit coordination, and conducted regulatory compliance reviews in accordance with RBI and MFIN guidelines. His work played a key role in strengthening audit governance and enhancing operational risk management across the organization.
Before joining Spandana Sphoorty Financial Limited, Abhijit held leadership roles at IndusInd Bank, where he served as Lead Manager after initially joining as Audit Manager on deputation from Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited (BFIL). During his tenure, he led nationwide risk-based audit programs across Business Correspondent operations, conducted KYC and CKYC compliance reviews, strengthened Standard Operating Procedures, identified control gaps, and enhanced regulatory compliance frameworks supporting the bank’s operational excellence.
Earlier, Abhijit spent more than 14 years at Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited (BFIL), steadily progressing through the roles of Audit Associate, Audit Executive, Assistant Manager, and Audit Manager. Over this period, he led internal audits across multiple regions, strengthened enterprise-wide audit strategies, improved operational efficiency, supported senior management through risk reporting, and built extensive expertise in governance, internal controls, and regulatory oversight across nationwide financial operations.
