Nairobi, Kenya, January 2026 — Absa Bank Kenya has announced that Elizabeth Wasunna-Ochwa, who has served as Director – Business Banking for the past seven years, has transitioned into a new role as Director – Partnerships.
In her new position, Elizabeth Wasunna-Ochwa will work closely with all business units and enabling functions across the organisation to build, deepen, and maximise value from both existing and new partnerships. The role is central to strengthening collaboration, unlocking growth opportunities, and advancing Absa Bank Kenya’s partnership-led strategy.
Elizabeth brings deep institutional knowledge to the role, having led Business Banking at Absa Bank Kenya since February 2020. Prior to that, she served as Director – Business Banking at Barclays Bank of Kenya, where she played a key role during the bank’s transition and continued focus on supporting enterprise and commercial clients.
Before joining Barclays, she was Head of Business Banking at Standard Bank of Malawi, following an extensive leadership tenure at Stanbic Bank. At Stanbic, she held senior roles including Head of Commercial Banking and Suite Head – Commercial Banking Kenya, overseeing large client portfolios and driving sector-focused growth.
Elizabeth began her banking career at Commercial Bank of Africa, where she spent a decade as a Relationship Manager, building strong foundations in client engagement, credit, and relationship-led banking. Her career spans nearly three decades across East and Southern Africa, with deep expertise in business, commercial, and corporate banking.
