Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, June 2026 — Ahmad Bukhari Mohd Yunus has been appointed Vice President Human Resources Malaysia at Shell, effective 1 June 2026, marking a significant leadership milestone in his nearly two-decade journey with the global energy major.
Announcing the development, Ahmad Bukhari Mohd Yunus shared that since joining Shell in 2008, he has had the privilege of working alongside exceptional leaders, colleagues, and teams across a wide range of roles and geographies that have shaped both his career and leadership philosophy.
In his new role, he will lead Shell’s Human Resources agenda in Malaysia, supporting the organization’s people strategy, talent development, workforce transformation, employee engagement, leadership succession, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and business growth priorities across the country.
A seasoned HR leader with more than 23 years of professional experience, Ahmad has built an extensive track record across strategic human resources leadership, talent management, succession planning, employee relations, rewards, HR operations, and organizational transformation.
Prior to this appointment, he served as Head of HR Integrated Gas and Upstream Malaysia, where he supported Shell’s upstream and integrated gas businesses in driving people and organizational priorities. Earlier, he held the role of Head of Global Talent Upstream, leading senior succession planning from Vice President to General Manager levels, identifying high-potential leaders, advancing diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, and shaping talent strategies for critical global roles.
Between 2018 and 2023, Ahmad served as Head of HR, Shell Business Operations, where he drove employee engagement, talent attraction, retention strategies, regulatory compliance, and employee and industrial relations initiatives. Prior to that, he was Country Rewards and ER/IR Manager, leading compensation, benefits, employee well-being, and industrial relations strategies that strengthened Shell Malaysia’s employee value proposition.
His earlier assignments included serving as Operations Manager – Middle East, Asia and Joint Ventures HR Services, overseeing HR operations across 19 countries in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, and Human Resources Manager, Shell Refinery (Manufacturing), where he partnered closely with manufacturing and commercial teams to enhance employee performance and labour relations.
Before joining Shell, Ahmad spent more than five years with Multimedia University, where he served as a Human Resources Executive.
An MBA graduate in Strategic Management from the International Islamic University Malaysia, Ahmad is widely recognized for his expertise in talent strategy, leadership development, HR transformation, succession planning, rewards management, and employee relations.
His appointment reflects Shell’s continued focus on developing internal leadership talent and strengthening its people agenda as the company navigates the evolving energy landscape and workforce transformation priorities.
