Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, United States, August 2026 — Surya Bommakanti has joined Mavenir as Senior Vice President (SVP), AI and Cloud Services Sales, bringing more than 25 years of telecommunications, cloud, technology sales and product leadership experience to the role. He will lead the growth of Mavenir’s services business across the Americas, focusing on the commercial and delivery capabilities that help operators and cloud providers adopt, operate and monetize AI and cloud-native platforms within their environments.
Bommakanti joins Mavenir following a 16-year career at Ericsson, where he held a succession of senior leadership positions spanning cloud software and services, mobile broadband, core networks, product management, solution sales and business development. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Head of Cloud Software & Services Sales for Regional Carriers & Utilities, leading portfolio sales across core, cloud and OSS/BSS solutions. In the role, he was accountable for revenue growth and margins while directing pre-sales, solution engineering and business development teams.
Earlier at Ericsson, Bommakanti served as Vice President, Cloud New Business Sales for the AT&T Customer Unit, where he led architecture and commercial positioning around 5G edge cloud opportunities. He also served as VP, Principal Solutions Manager, Cloud and Core for the Verizon Customer Unit, leading core network and cloud technical sales. As Vice President, Mobile Broadband Engagement Practice, North America, he led a 78-member organization spanning business development, solution sales and technical architecture.
His Ericsson journey also included serving as Vice President, Product Management, Core, with responsibility for product and lifecycle strategy as well as P&L and R&D investment. Before Ericsson, Bommakanti spent approximately nine years with Nortel Networks, holding leadership assignments across product management, solution sales, new business development and network engineering while working across markets including the United States, India and Australia.
Bommakanti holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering from Monash University and an Executive MBA in Strategic Management from AGSM at UNSW Business School. His appointment brings extensive experience across AI, cloud, 5G, telecom infrastructure, product strategy and complex enterprise sales to Mavenir’s growth agenda in the Americas.
