Toronto, Ontario, Canada, August 2026 — Hyder Alwan has been appointed Vice President – Sales & Customer Office at Zurich Canada, marking an elevation within the organization after serving as Assistant Vice President – Sales Enablement. In his new leadership role, Alwan brings extensive experience spanning insurance sales, business performance, advisor enablement, customer experience and people leadership.
Alwan joined Zurich Canada in February 2026 as Assistant Vice President – Sales Enablement, before moving into his expanded Vice President role in August 2026. His appointment builds on a career focused on strengthening sales organizations, developing frontline capabilities, improving business performance and delivering stronger customer outcomes.
Before joining Zurich Canada, Alwan spent nearly four years with RBC Insurance, most recently as Director, Business Performance & Initiatives. In that position, he led a multidisciplinary team across performance, transition, employee and client experience, and reporting and insights. Earlier, as Director – Home & Auto Insurance, he provided strategic leadership to 10 team leaders overseeing approximately 120–130 insurance professionals, with responsibilities spanning sales and service strategy, coaching, talent development and operational performance.
Earlier in his career, Alwan served as Manager – Advisor Enablement at Allstate Canada, where he led initiatives aimed at strengthening advisor capabilities and sales effectiveness. He also spent more than eight years with Desjardins Groupe d’assurances générales, managing sales and service operations, coaching teams and supporting customer experience initiatives. His career also includes more than five years with Future Shop, where he held a Sales Manager role.
Alwan studied Business Administration and Management at Seneca Polytechnic. His progression into the Vice President role at Zurich Canada reflects a career built around sales leadership, customer experience, performance management, capability development and insurance distribution.
