Cairo, Egypt, February 2026 —Ahmed Khorched Fayek has taken on the role of Chairman at Sanabel, The Microfinance Network of Arab Countries, marking a significant leadership milestone in the regional microfinance sector. His appointment reflects his extensive executive experience across financial services, microfinance, governance, and institutional growth in the Arab world.
In his new capacity at Sanabel, The Microfinance Network of Arab Countries, Ahmed will guide the strategic direction of the regional network, supporting innovation, capacity building, and the advancement of inclusive financial services across member institutions in the Arab region.
Alongside this new responsibility, he currently serves as Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director and Vice Chairman at Tamweely Financial Services, where he leads the organization’s strategic expansion and operational performance. He previously held the role of Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Tamweely, steering its growth trajectory and strengthening its position in Egypt’s microfinance landscape. He also serves as a Board Member at MSMEF and has previously been a Board Member at Onefinance, further underscoring his governance and industry influence.
Earlier in his career, Ahmed held multiple leadership positions at Tanmeyah Micro Enterprise Services, including Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Chief Risk Officer, and Chief Operations Officer. In these roles, he drove operational excellence, risk governance, and scalable microfinance operations, contributing significantly to the institution’s development and sectoral impact.
His professional journey also includes experience with leading financial institutions such as National Bank of Kuwait, Burgan Bank, BNP Paribas, Bank of Alexandria, and HSBC Egypt, where he built a strong foundation in corporate banking, product management, project management, and business analysis.
With over two decades of experience in banking and microfinance, Ahmed brings deep expertise in financial inclusion, governance, risk management, and institutional transformation to his role as Chairman.

Sanabel, The Microfinance Network of Arab Countries was established in 2002 by 17 founding members from seven Arab countries as a membership-driven regional network of microfinance institutions. Today, Sanabel comprises 64 members from 12 Arab countries, serving approximately 2.4 million clients—representing around 83% of total microfinance clients in the region. The network advocates for growth, innovation, best practices, and standardization within the microfinance sector, fostering financial inclusion and sustainable development across Arab countries.
