New Delhi, Delhi, India, March 2025 — Ajay Bhadoo has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Government e Marketplace (GeM), effective March 3, 2025, while continuing to serve as Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce. With over two decades of administrative experience, he brings a strategic vision to one of the Government of India’s most critical digital platforms. His appointment comes at a time when GeM is undergoing a significant technology transition in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to further enhance public procurement processes.
Prior to taking charge at GeM, Ajay Bhadoo served as Deputy Election Commissioner at the Election Commission of India, where he played a vital role in streamlining electoral processes and strengthening institutional frameworks. In this capacity, he contributed to policy formulation and oversight of national election strategies, leveraging technology for electoral roll management and voter facilitation initiatives.
Earlier in his career, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Gujarat Maritime Board, where he was instrumental in modernizing port infrastructure and promoting maritime trade. His work in the sector earned recognition for driving operational efficiency and attracting private sector participation in port development across the state.
Ajay Bhadoo’s administrative journey spans key positions in both the Gujarat state and central governments, with a focus on governance reform, digital transformation, and public policy. His extensive background in infrastructure development, commerce, and technology-led governance places him in a strong position to steer GeM through its next phase of growth and impact.
