Arun Shivdasani Joins 2U as Chief Financial Officer

Lanham, Maryland, United States, May 2025 — Arun Shivdasani has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer at 2U, effective June 2, 2025. Bringing with him more than three decades of diverse financial leadership across education and technology sectors, Arun will now lead 2U’s global finance organization and help drive its financial strategy during a pivotal phase of growth and transformation.

Prior to this appointment, Arun served as Managing Partner at Blue Tanzanite Advisors, a boutique advisory firm specializing in financial strategy and M&A advisory for CEOs, CFOs, and private equity firms. He also held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Tangoe, where he helped optimize financial operations for a private equity-backed enterprise technology firm.

Previously, Arun worked at Bloomberg LP, where he was CFO of both Bloomberg Global Data and Bloomberg Government, overseeing strategic finance for SaaS and data-driven verticals. His earlier roles include a successful stint as Chief Financial Officer for Walden University and Vice President FP&A for Laureate Online Education, where he led finance for a multi-university system across the globe.

Arun also held key roles at Marriott International, E*TRADE, and Progress Energy, where he led corporate financial planning, strategic M&A support, investor relations, and business risk mitigation for large-scale operations. He began his career with Deloitte (formerly S.B. Billimoria & Co) and HDFC Bank, gaining foundational experience in consulting, audits, and corporate banking.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
