The new facility, sprawled across 75 acres, is designed to produce the full range of Ashok Leyland’s diesel buses and Switch Mobility’s electric buses. Equipped with advanced manufacturing technologies, the plant upholds global quality standards and reflects Ashok Leyland’s commitment to innovation and sustainable transportation. The facility has an annual production capacity of 4,800 buses, making it one of the most significant investments in public transport infrastructure in the region.

In addition to production capabilities, the plant features Nalanda, a modern Learning Center, and an advanced Service Training Center, both aimed at enhancing skill development and employment opportunities for the local workforce. This initiative aligns with Ashok Leyland’s longstanding commitment to nation-building and socio-economic development.

Founded in 1948 and headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Ashok Leyland has grown into one of India’s foremost commercial vehicle manufacturers, with over 10,000 employees and more than 500,000 vehicles on Indian roads. The company’s vehicles dominate the urban public transport landscape, with four out of every five State Transport Undertaking (STU) buses in India being manufactured by Ashok Leyland.

In 2006, it became the first Indian auto firm to receive the ISO/TS 16949 Corporate Certification, further reinforcing its leadership in quality management.
