Sydney, New South Wales — Avani Solanki Prabhakar has stepped into a new role as Chief People Officer at Atlassian. With nearly five years at the company, Prabhakar now leads the People Team, supporting over 11,000 Atlassians globally. Her promotion comes at a crucial time as the company continues to expand its workforce.

Career Highlights at Atlassian
Prabhakar joined Atlassian in July 2019 as Head of HR Partners for the Asia Pacific region. She swiftly rose through the ranks, becoming Senior Director, Head of HR Asia Pacific & Global M&A Lead in July 2020, and later Vice President in November 2021. As Vice President, she led a global team of HR Business Partners and Regional HR Partners, working closely with R&D leaders to shape the company’s talent strategy. In June 2023, she was appointed Senior Vice President and Global Head of Talent and HR, where she accelerated performance during Atlassian’s scaling phase and expanded the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. Her remit included driving efficiencies across talent and employee programs and overseeing a team of approximately 100 people.
In her new role as Chief People Officer, Prabhakar will oversee Atlassian’s global HR strategies, employee programs, and DEI initiatives. She will lead a team of HR Business Partners, Employment Relations, Talent, M&A, and DEI professionals, ensuring that HR goals align with Atlassian’s broader business strategies.
Previous Experience
Before joining Atlassian, Prabhakar spent nearly four years at Fuji Xerox Australia (now FUJIFILM Business Innovation Australia), where she initially served as an HR Business Partner and later became the Head of HR Business Partnering. During her tenure, she led a team of HR Business Partners nationally and played a pivotal role in driving key transformation projects, business integrations, growth initiatives, and fostering a high-performance culture.
Prior to Fuji Xerox Australia, Prabhakar spent eight years at British Airways in various HR leadership roles. As HR Manager for South Asia, she worked closely with leadership teams to execute people strategies, manage change projects, and support organizational changes like mergers and acquisitions. She later became HR Manager for Asia Pacific, Middle East & Central Asia, leading a team of international HR professionals across the region. Her work involved driving HR transformation projects and partnering on key organizational changes while managing employee unions in countries like Singapore, Japan, Australia, and India.
Her early career includes HR roles at Genpact and GE Capital, where she managed hiring operations in new markets, talent acquisition strategies, and workforce planning.
