Gangavaram, Andhra Pradesh, India, September 2024 – AVNVS Murthy has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer at Adani Ports and SEZ. In his new role, Murthy will be responsible for overseeing operations and driving strategic initiatives at one of India’s leading port developers and operators.
Career Journey: AVNVS Murthy brings extensive experience to his new position. He has been with Adani Ports and SEZ since early 2024, taking on the role of Chief Operating Officer. Before this, Murthy served as Chief Manufacturing Officer at Adani Cements for approximately one year, managing a cluster of nine cement plants with a total capacity of 19 million MT.
Prior to his role at Adani Cements, Murthy was Chief Manufacturing Officer for the North-II cluster at Adani Cements for around one year, overseeing five cement plants with a total capacity of 10 million MT.
Murthy’s career includes a significant tenure at Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd., where he was Head of Unit for about two years, managing plant functions and serving as the Regional Reliability Coordinator. He also held the position of Maintenance Manager for nearly four years, handling operations and mechanical planning for two major plants.
Before joining Dalmia, Murthy worked as General Manager-Maintenance at Votorantim Cements-Shree Digvijay Cement Co. Ltd. for approximately three years, where he led the maintenance department and improved system reliability. His earlier roles include serving as Incharge-Mechanical Maintenance at National Cement Factory (Holcim) in Abu Dhabi for about four years, and Assistant Manager Paint Shop Maintenance at Mahindra & Mahindra for nearly two years. He began his career at Larsen & Toubro Limited, where he worked as Shift Incharge for approximately nine years.
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), a part of the globally diversified Adani Group, has evolved from a port company to a comprehensive ports and logistics platform for India. With 12 strategically located ports and terminals, APSEZ represents 24% of India’s total port capacity and handles significant cargo volumes from both coastal and hinterland regions. The company is developing new facilities including a transshipment port at Vizhinjam, Kerala, and a container terminal in Myanmar. APSEZ aims to be the largest ports and logistics platform globally in the next decade and is committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2025.
