Punjab, India, April 2026 — Avtar Singh has taken on the role of Chief Executive Officer at Ceph Lifesciences Private Limited, formerly known as Nectar Lifesciences Ltd, a ~$200 million business unit and part of the Virchow Group, Hyderabad. His appointment marks a significant leadership move for the company as it strengthens its position in the active pharmaceutical ingredients and broader pharmaceutical products business.
Before joining Ceph Lifesciences Private Limited, Avtar Singh built a long and distinguished career at Punjab Chemicals and Crop Protection Limited, where he has been associated for more than four decades. Most recently, he has served as Non-Executive Director since 2021. Prior to that, he held the role of Director of Operations and Business Development from 1997 to 2021, where he led strategic growth initiatives, oversaw core operational functions, drove business development, improved operational efficiency, and helped expand the company’s market presence. Earlier, he served as Head of Operations, leading end-to-end operations with a focus on productivity, quality, and cost optimization, while also implementing process improvements and strengthening operational systems. His long tenure at the company began in 1981, where he built a strong foundation across operational and functional areas in the chemical industry.
Alongside this, Avtar Singh has also served as Independent Director at SCL Lifesciences Limited, where he has contributed strategic guidance and governance oversight while supporting board-level decisions, compliance, risk management, and long-term growth initiatives in the life sciences sector.
Earlier in his senior leadership journey, he served as Joint Managing Director at Transpek Industry Ltd from 2021 to 2026, where he drove strategic leadership and overall business performance for a publicly listed specialty chemical company. During that period, he oversaw manufacturing and business operations focused on acid chlorides and specialty chemicals, while leading growth initiatives and market expansion in domestic and international markets. During the same period, he also served as Managing Director at TML Industries Limited, where he led overall business strategy, operations, manufacturing, product development, and market expansion in the specialty chemicals space. These assignments further broadened his executive leadership profile across complex industrial and specialty chemical businesses.
He began his professional career as an R&D Chemist at Gharda Chemicals Limited, where he started in 1980 and gained early scientific and product development experience. This early technical foundation, combined with his later decades of leadership in operations, business development, governance, and enterprise management, has shaped a career of deep breadth and continuity across chemicals, life sciences, and manufacturing-driven businesses.
With extensive leadership experience spanning operations, business development, governance, specialty chemicals, and life sciences, Avtar Singh brings a seasoned and highly experienced executive profile to Ceph Lifesciences Private Limited. His appointment comes at an important time as the company continues to grow its API and pharmaceutical products capabilities under the Virchow Group umbrella.
