Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, January 2025 – IMCD Group has announced the appointment of Bandesh Rao as Director – Strategy, M&A and Transformation (SMAT) for India and Bangladesh. In this strategic role, Rao will spearhead IMCD’s growth initiatives through a blend of organic and inorganic opportunities, digitalisation, and enhanced branding and communication efforts. With a deep understanding of the chemicals industry and extensive expertise in business strategy, Rao is well-positioned to contribute to IMCD’s mission of creating sustainable and innovative solutions for its partners and stakeholders.
Before joining IMCD, Bandesh Rao spent over 12 years at Godrej Industries Limited (Chemicals), where he held several senior leadership roles. Most recently, as BU Lead – Specialty Chemicals, he was responsible for managing a ₹3,500 crore portfolio and driving revenue growth through strategic initiatives. Prior to that, he served as General Manager – Sales, focusing on business development and channel partner expansion across India and international markets.

Earlier in his career, Rao worked with LANXESS as Assistant Manager – Sales, managing a portfolio of intermediates in the perfumery industry. At Sealed Air Diversey Care, he introduced innovative hygiene solutions in the Indian market. His journey began at Aarti Industries Ltd., where he gained valuable experience as a Management Trainee – Sales, handling strategic markets and chemical product portfolios.
Rao brings expertise in P&L management, business strategy, sales management, and channel partner development. His leadership style is defined by his ability to identify market opportunities, foster strong relationships with partners, and execute transformative strategies.
