London, United Kingdom – October 2024 – Bruce Macfarlane has joined Capenex Energy Group as the new Chief Financial Officer. In his new role, Bruce will oversee Capenex’s financial operations, lead strategic financial planning, and ensure effective capital management to support the company’s growth in renewable energy. His extensive experience in driving financial transformation will help Capenex align its strategies with its mission of promoting sustainable energy solutions globally.
Before joining Capenex, Bruce served as the Chief Financial Officer at Eku Energy for 10 months, where he played a key role in building large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). He was instrumental in managing financial strategies that accelerated the adoption of renewable energy technologies, enhancing grid efficiency and energy utilization.
Earlier, Bruce was the Finance & Operations Director at Ricardo plc, a global engineering and environmental consultancy. In this role, he was responsible for integrating financial processes and operations across the company’s divisions. His efforts focused on streamlining financial systems, improving operational efficiency, and supporting business development initiatives.
Prior to Ricardo plc, Bruce held the position of Chief Financial Officer at newcleo, a cleantech startup focused on advanced nuclear reactors. He successfully established foundational financial processes, supported regulatory compliance for potential NASDAQ listing, and led significant capital raises totaling EUR 400 million. His tenure was marked by strategic negotiations with the government and rapid international expansion across Europe.
Bruce also founded KAIA Finance, where he provided financial strategy and support to clients across various sectors, including M&As, fundraising, and investment strategies. During this period, he implemented Xero accounting software solutions and managed e-commerce ventures, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and adaptability.
