St. Petersburg, Florida, United States, April 2025 – Carey D. Cooper has been appointed as Vice President of Human Resources at Valpak, the nation’s premier provider of direct mail and omnichannel media solutions. In his new role, Carey will lead the strategic direction of the company’s HR function, driving talent development, employee engagement, DEI, and organizational effectiveness to support Valpak’s ongoing growth and innovation.
Carey joins Valpak following over 16 years with Emerson, where he most recently served as Head of Human Resources for the Appleton Group Business Unit. In this executive role, he led a team of 20 HR professionals across global locations, aligning HR strategy with business goals while spearheading initiatives in culture, DEI, talent development, and workforce planning.
Prior to this, he was Director of Human Resources at Emerson, overseeing HR functions for 10 North American facilities. His focus areas included talent acquisition, compensation planning, labor relations, employee engagement, and compliance with corporate and employment standards.
Earlier, Carey held the role of HR Manager at Emerson, managing operations in Maryland and Ontario. He successfully negotiated severance packages and union labor relations during a plant closure, demonstrating his agility in complex organizational transitions.
He began his HR career at Daimler Chrysler, serving in HR Generalist roles and then as Warehouse Supervisor with Chrysler Group LLC, where she managed outbound operations and supervised large unionized teams, gaining early experience in operations and workforce management.
Carey holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2004–2005), one of the leading programs for HR professionals.
