Fremont, California, United States, April 2025 – Cheryl Serna has stepped into the role of Vice President Human Resources at Kidango, one of California’s largest not-for-profit child development agencies. In her new capacity, Cheryl will lead HR strategies, employee relations, and organizational development initiatives across the agency, supporting over 4,000 children and the dedicated professionals serving them.
Cheryl most recently served as Human Resources Director at LifeMoves, where she oversaw HR strategy and compliance for the organization’s expansive team supporting homelessness services in the Bay Area. She earlier held the role of Senior Manager of Human Resources at LifeMoves, where she led efforts in talent acquisition, HRIS implementation, and employee engagement while managing benefits and fostering a positive workplace culture.
Before LifeMoves, Cheryl spent nearly eight years as Director of Operations at CASSY (Counseling & Support Services for Youth). There, she managed all HR functions for over 75 employees and spearheaded operations including finance, fundraising, and event planning—playing a critical role in the nonprofit’s mission of providing mental health support to youth in schools across California.
Earlier in her career, Cheryl held key roles at Charities Housing Development Corporation, where she was Compliance and HR Manager, overseeing human resources, audits, and compliance for a portfolio of 16 housing properties. She also led fundraising efforts as Fund Development Manager at Housing Trust of Santa Clara County, bringing in vital resources to support affordable housing development in the region.
