San Antonio, Texas, September 2024 – Christy Banazek has been promoted to Chief People Officer at H-E-B, marking a significant milestone in her decade-long career with the company. As Chief People Officer, Christy will be responsible for overseeing all human resources strategies and functions, guiding the company’s commitment to fostering a strong and inclusive culture among its over 117,000 employees.

Prior to her promotion, Christy Banazek held the role of Senior Vice President of Human Resources at H-E-B for nearly one year, during which she led pivotal initiatives in talent acquisition, employee engagement, and leadership development. She played a critical role in shaping HR policies that align with H-E-B’s long-term growth strategy.

Before that, Christy served as Group Vice President of Human Resources for nearly four years, leading company-wide HR operations. Her contributions were key to optimizing organizational structures, streamlining HR processes, and enhancing employee relations across all levels.

Earlier in her career, Christy held the position of Vice President of Human Resources for over six years, overseeing HR operations and strategic initiatives in San Antonio. In this role, she focused on improving employee retention, engagement, and development, ensuring H-E-B’s workforce remained dynamic and adaptable in a fast-paced retail environment.

Her early career at H-E-B began with roles like HR Director and Senior Facility Leader, where she spent a combined five years managing HR operations and site leadership. These foundational experiences helped her build a deep understanding of the company’s people-focused culture.
