Singapore, July 2026 — Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan has appointed Deb Hajara as Senior Managing Director, Infrastructure & Natural Resources (INR), Asia Pacific. In this expanded leadership role, he will lead the Infrastructure & Natural Resources business across the Asia Pacific region and help drive the investment strategy across one of the organization’s key global markets.
The appointment reflects Deb Hajara’s significant contribution to the growth of Ontario Teachers’ infrastructure business in Asia Pacific. Announcing the appointment, Christopher Metrakos, Executive Managing Director, Infrastructure & Natural Resources, highlighted Deb’s deep understanding of the regional portfolio, strong leadership, and commitment to the organization’s performance-driven culture. His appointment marks an important step in advancing Ontario Teachers’ long-term investment strategy across the region.
Deb joined Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan in 2021 as Director, Infrastructure & Natural Resources (INR) before being promoted to Managing Director, Infrastructure & Natural Resources in 2022. During his tenure, he has played a key role in expanding the organization’s infrastructure investment portfolio across Asia Pacific while also serving on the boards of several portfolio companies, including Mahindra Susten, Connexa Limited, Sustainable Energy Infra Trust, National Highways Infra Trust (NHAI InvIT), National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), and Equis Development Pte. Ltd., where he also serves as Alternate Director and a member of the Investment and Audit Committees.
Before joining Ontario Teachers’, Deb spent more than five years with Macquarie Group, where he progressed through leadership positions within Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets, serving as Manager and later Vice President. Earlier in his career, he held investment and infrastructure finance roles at IDFC Alternatives, IDFC, and SBI Capital Markets, building extensive expertise in infrastructure investing, portfolio management, and strategic investments across the Asia Pacific region.
