New Delhi, India, June 2025 – Deepak Arora has been appointed as Head of Government Relations at ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India). In this strategic role, he will be responsible for overseeing policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and fostering robust government relationships to support the company’s continued growth and sustainable development across India.
Prior to joining AM/NS India, Deepak Arora served as President – Public Affairs at Nayara Energy for nearly three years. In this capacity, he led critical initiatives across public affairs and CSR, enabling government clearances, resolving market access issues, and driving policy advocacy, which resulted in significant financial gains and enhanced institutional reputation. Notably, he facilitated incentive approvals exceeding INR 1500 crores and successfully negotiated key policy matters.
During his earlier tenure at Nayara Energy, he held the position of Vice President – Public Affairs, where he led relationships with the Government of Gujarat, drove local economic development through CSR initiatives, and managed land assets and regulatory compliance. His leadership resulted in multiple CSR awards and the implementation of impactful policies.
Before Nayara Energy, Deepak worked at Essar Group as Vice President, where he played a multifaceted role in aligning CSR with business strategy, leading public affairs, and enhancing external communications. He also served as the CEO of the Essar Foundation, managing CSR for 25 SBUs, and represented the company at international forums such as the ET Global Business Summit.
Earlier in his career, Deepak was Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Cairn India, where he led stakeholder management and high-impact CSR projects, including an IFC linkage program. His efforts contributed to rehabilitation and employment for local communities and enhanced the company’s reputation in international forums.
With over two decades of experience across institutions like UNIDO, NSIC, and Foundation for MSME Clusters, he has consistently worked at the intersection of government policy, sustainability, and corporate strategy, influencing policy frameworks in countries like India, Iran, Thailand, Pakistan, and Ethiopia.
