India, June 2026 — S Santhana Krishnan has joined ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) as Head of Procurement.
Krishnan brings extensive experience across strategic procurement, commercial leadership, contract management, supply chain transformation, Opex and Capex procurement, supplier partnerships, and business value creation across the steel, oil and gas, mining, metals, and manufacturing sectors.
In his new role at AM/NS India, Krishnan will lead strategic procurement and transformation initiatives aimed at accelerating business growth, strengthening supply chain resilience, fostering high-impact supplier partnerships, and delivering sustainable value creation.
Prior to joining AM/NS India, he served as Chief Commercial Officer – Offshore Assets at Cairn Oil and Gas, where he was responsible for strategizing and procuring Opex and Capex requirements for offshore assets, managing a spend of around $200 million, and supporting major integrated operations and maintenance contracts, drilling campaigns, vendor partnerships, and cost optimization initiatives.
Earlier, Krishnan worked as Head Commercial – Konkola Deep Shaft BU at Konkola Copper Mines plc, where he managed commercial operations for a business unit with approximately $100 million in spend. Before that, he served as Head Contract Management and Coal Procurement at Vedanta Resources Limited, handling services and coal procurement with a spend of around $75 million.
A significant part of his career was spent with Bharat Aluminium Company Limited, where he held key leadership roles including Head Projects – Rodding Shop and Head Instrumentation – Sheet Rolling Shop and Foundry. During this tenure, he led large-scale project execution, instrumentation, plant operations, engineering-to-handover delivery, and associated manufacturing initiatives.
With his strong background in procurement strategy, contract management, supply chain resilience, commercial excellence, project execution, and industrial transformation, Krishnan is expected to play a key role in strengthening AM/NS India’s procurement function and supporting its growth agenda.
