Dubai, United Arab Emirates, June 2024 – Esra Jamal Alsamarra’i has taken on the role of Head of HR – Wealth Management, Priority Banking and Business Banking at Emirates NBD. With a wealth of experience in learning and development, people management, and strategic HR leadership, Esra brings valuable expertise to support the growth and transformation of Emirates NBD’s Wealth Management, Priority Banking, and Business Banking sectors.
Esra Jamal Alsamarra’i joins Emirates NBD after an impressive 17-year tenure at HSBC, where she held various senior HR roles. Most recently, she served as the Regional Head of Learning for Wealth, Private & Personal Banking, MENAT for approximately 7 years and 8 months. In this role, she was responsible for executing the Learning and Development agenda, providing learning advisory, developing high-impact learning content, and partnering with senior executives to create bespoke talent and education strategies.
Prior to that, Esra was the Senior Manager, HR Business Partner – Retail Banking and Wealth Management for around 4 years. She drove the HR agenda for UAE RBWM, developed strategic People Plans, supported business growth initiatives, managed people risks, and acted as a trusted advisor to the business.
Esra also served as the Manager – Talent, Resourcing and Organisational Development for approximately 1 year and 6 months, where she led talent development initiatives, conducted career management reviews, and drove Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) efforts across the UAE. Additionally, she held the role of Manager, Talent, Resourcing and International Mobility for around 1 year and 10 months, focusing on executive resourcing and leading a team of resourcing managers.
Her career at HSBC began with roles such as Resourcing Manager, Corporate Banking and Resourcing Officer, Corporate Banking, where she managed end-to-end recruitment processes and volume recruitment campaigns.
Before HSBC, Esra worked at Wasl Group as an Assistant to Director of Properties Department for about 2 years and 1 month, and at Amlak Finance PJSC as a Human Resources Assistant for approximately 7 months. She also gained experience as a Student Recruitment Officer at the University of Wollongong in Dubai for around 2 years and 3 months.
