GB Bank Welcomes Mark Sismey-Durrant as New Chair

GB Bank has announced the appointment of Mark Sismey-Durrant, a distinguished figure in the banking sector, as its new Chair. Sismey-Durrant brings to the table a remarkable portfolio with over 40 years of comprehensive experience in the UK banking industry, most of which has been in senior leadership roles. This strategic appointment comes at a pivotal time for GB Bank as it embarks on the next phase of its development.

A Legacy of Leadership

Mark Sismey-Durrant’s career in banking is nothing short of impressive. Starting his journey at Midland Bank, he quickly ascended to CEO positions at three dynamic and profitable specialist challenger banks: Sun Bank Plc, Heritable Bank Plc, and Hampshire Trust Bank Plc​​. His tenure at these institutions was marked by significant growth and innovation, making him an ideal leader for GB Bank’s ambitious plans.

In addition to his executive roles, Sismey-Durrant has made substantial contributions as a board director across various banking and financial services companies. He is the current Chair of Cashplus Bank, a fintech enterprise, where he has also led the Audit and Remuneration Committees and served on the Risk Committee​​. His roles beyond the banking sector, including Chair of a small Swedish SME finance group and his involvement with Loughborough University’s School of Business and Economics, underscore his versatile leadership and strategic vision.
