Greater Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, June 2026 — GE HealthCare has appointed Akshar Awalgaonkar as its Chief Procurement Officer (CPO), strengthening its executive leadership team as the company continues to advance its global operations and precision healthcare strategy.
Announcing the appointment, GE HealthCare highlighted Akshar’s proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams while delivering large-scale functional transformations across complex, highly regulated industries. The company noted that his strategic leadership, transformation expertise, and ability to foster enterprise-wide collaboration will support GE HealthCare’s continued evolution toward delivering precision care for patients and healthcare providers worldwide.
Prior to joining GE HealthCare, Akshar served as Group Vice President & Chief Procurement Officer at Avery Dennison, where he led the company’s global procurement organization. During his tenure, he was responsible for the global procurement function of the Fortune 500 materials science and digital identification solutions company.
Before Avery Dennison, he was Senior Vice President & Chief Procurement Officer at GE, where he led the global integrated procurement organization for GE Water, supporting the business through a period that included its acquisition by SUEZ and subsequently Veolia.
Earlier, Akshar held senior procurement leadership positions at AbbVie as Assistant Vice President – Global Procurement, leading the company’s global indirect procurement organization, and at Walgreens Boots Alliance as Assistant Vice President – Global Procurement, where he led the global indirect strategic procurement function.
His earlier career included nearly eight years with GE, progressing through multiple leadership roles including Executive Director – Program & Profit Management Office, Executive Director – Global Strategic Sourcing, Director – Global Strategic Sourcing, Senior Manager – Global Strategic Sourcing, and Manager – Global Strategic Sourcing, leading global sourcing, procurement, commercial operations, and program management initiatives across multiple business units.
He began his international supply chain career with Whirlpool Corporation, where he participated in the company’s Global Supply Chain Leadership Development Program across sourcing, logistics, project management, and materials management functions. Earlier, he started his professional journey with Bosch through its Manufacturing Trainee Engineering Development Program in India.
Akshar holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with specialization in Marketing, Strategy, and Finance from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.
With more than two decades of global leadership experience spanning procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain transformation, commercial operations, program management, manufacturing, and enterprise transformation across healthcare, industrial manufacturing, consumer products, life sciences, and technology sectors, Akshar brings extensive expertise to GE HealthCare’s executive leadership team.
