Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, June 2026 — Girish Bhunje has joined Intas Pharmaceuticals as Senior Vice President – API Operations, bringing with him extensive leadership experience in active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturing, operations management, regulatory compliance, process excellence, and business transformation.
In his new role, Girish will be responsible for leading multiple API divisions at Intas Pharmaceuticals, driving operational excellence, enhancing manufacturing efficiencies, strengthening compliance frameworks, and supporting the company’s continued growth across its global pharmaceutical operations. His appointment reinforces Intas’ commitment to building world-class manufacturing capabilities and delivering high-quality pharmaceutical products to global markets.
Girish brings more than two decades of rich experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and API operations. Prior to joining Intas Pharmaceuticals, he served as Vice President at Alkem Laboratories Ltd., where he played a pivotal role in leading manufacturing operations and driving performance improvements across complex production environments.
Before Alkem, he spent over eight years with Sun Pharma, holding leadership positions including Associate Vice President, Senior General Manager, and Senior General Manager Operations & Location Head. During his tenure, he led large-scale manufacturing facilities, ensuring regulatory and statutory compliance, maintaining service levels, strengthening environmental health and safety frameworks, improving quality performance, and overseeing projects, procurement, budgeting, and long-term strategic planning.
Earlier in his career, Girish served as General Manager Operations at Unimark Remedies Ltd., where he led techno-commercial assignments across API manufacturing, production planning, quality assurance, and compliance with European and USFDA standards. His responsibilities also included project management, process development, resource optimization, strategic leadership, manpower management, budgeting, and commercial operations.
He also gained valuable international experience as Plant Head at CAD Middle East Pharmaceutical LLC in Saudi Arabia, further expanding his expertise in pharmaceutical manufacturing and operational leadership across global markets.
Throughout his professional journey, Girish has established a strong reputation for leading large-scale manufacturing organizations, driving operational efficiency, implementing robust compliance systems, and delivering sustainable business growth across diverse pharmaceutical product portfolios. His extensive experience and proven leadership capabilities position him strongly to lead Intas Pharmaceuticals’ API operations through its next phase of expansion and innovation.
