Pune, Maharashtra, India, July 2024 – Gurpratap S. Boparai has joined Suzlon Energy Limited as Chief Executive Officer – Manufacturing Business, bringing a wealth of experience in automotive and manufacturing leadership. Gurpratap will be responsible for overseeing Suzlon’s manufacturing operations and driving strategic initiatives to enhance the company’s production capabilities.
Gurpratap most recently served as CEO – Automotive Businesses, Europe and Mahindra Truck, Bus and Construction Equipment at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, where he led business operations, market expansion, and strategic initiatives for the European and commercial vehicle segments.
Before joining Mahindra and Mahindra, he was the Managing Director at Volkswagen Group India (Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd), where he played a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth and market presence in India.
At Fiat India Automobiles Pvt Ltd, Gurpratap held the position of Chief Executive Officer, overseeing the company’s overall operations and contributing to its success in the Indian market. He also served as VP, Head of Powertrain Division at Fiat India Automobiles Limited, where he led the powertrain division to achieve significant milestones.
Earlier in his career, Gurpratap worked at Ocap Chassis Parts as Plant Director, and at Iveco as Head Assembly O.U., where he was responsible for various manufacturing and logistics functions in Turin, Italy. He began his career at Tata Cummins Ltd as a Business Unit Leader and at Tata Motors as a Senior Engineer, where he was involved in setting up greenfield facilities and managing engine division operations.
